I would like to start this documentation by saying THANK YOU
To MICRO SIMULATION and their staff and volunteer Susops for
making this upload possible.
This document will outline the files we have uploaded along
with a brief description of each program. In addition we
will try to make you aware of some of the possible shortcuts
you can use when running our software.
Although not residents of the metropolitan Twin Cities area
we do have customers in this market area that we work with
on a regular basis.
In closing, aside from saying thank you for downloading this
file, Marge & I would like to dedicate this and all future
shareware that we may upload to: Rosie, Bobby, Patrick,
Chris & Nikki.
These programs were created on a 80386 MS-DOS machine. They
are designed for computers with a minimum of:
512KB RAM - Color monitor - Hard Disk
If you have a monochrome monitor, some screens may be
visually challenging.
Please notice that we have tried to offset this file
to the right side allowing you to staple the left side.
We welcome your suggestions and comments about these
programs and we will try to expand our offerings on the
MICRO SIMULATIONS BBS.
Should you, your company or organization feel the need for a
special software program, we would be happy to discuss it
with you. Our rates are very reasonable and we offer
technical support on all programs we author.

ASSETS.EXE
ASSETS is a home inventory application. It allows you to keep
track of your valuable possessions. The first table lists items
in alphabetical order by room. The Inventory report prints a list
of items by room, and the second report prints a list of items
with serial numbers.
Hot Keys or Function keys trigger special operations from within
your application. Case in point: from your ITEMS Scrolling table
you have 2 choices, they are: F9 Print Inventory and F10 Print a
Serial Number Report.
When using our software remember: Basically we use 2 different
types of screens, they are: Scrolling Tables, which allow you to
display multiple records on the screen at the same time. The 2nd
screen is the basic FORM. On the FORM you will enter individual
pieces of information. Once entered they will be displayed in the
SCROLLING TABLE.
Remember: Your ESC-KEY will always take you back 1 step. Your
ENTER-KEY will accept your current position and advance you to
the next available field. PRESSING CTRL-ENTER at the same time
will tell the computer to accept the information on the screen
and save it then EXIT the FORM.
Using the ASSETS.EXE program to inventory your home will save you
from any disagreements with your insurance agent with regards to
personal possessions. Always remember that it is a good idea to
PHOTOGRAPH your possessions and keep the receipts for proof.
LIBRARY.EXE
The LIBRARY application is a very complete and specialized home
oriented program. It will inventory all of your BOOKS, VIDEO'S
and MUSIC items.
Many users will use this program in conjunction with the
ASSETS.EXE home inventory program. Entering information about
their collection in this program and next running the reports
then taking these totals and adding them into the Home Inventory
program.
Basically, the LIBRARY application is 3 programs in one. This
application works the same way our other programs operate in that
it uses TABLES and FORMS to track information.
When running LIBRARY or any other application always remember
that while you are viewing the TABLE you can ADD new Information
by pressing your INS-KEY. If your computer BEEPS at you it is
telling you that your NUM LOCKS KEY is on. Press your NUM LOCKS
KEY and then continue.
While viewing your information in the TABLE view you can also
PRESS your DEL-KEY. This will activate your record DELETION
process and a window will open stating RECORD TO DELETE. If you
do not want to delete the record, simply press your ESC-KEY.
Your LIBRARY application will also allow you to keep tabs on
items that you have lent to other people.
MEMOS.EXE
Your MEMOS application allows you to do several things. You can
organize a staff of people into departments, maintain a file of
MEMOS and create and print MEMOS for an entire staff, a selected
department, or an individual.
While this application is obviously a very useful office worker
it could easily be modified for other purposes.
ORDER.EXE
Your ORDER application is used for order entry and processing.
This application uses some advanced techniques specifically:
Automatic field numbering
Built in functions
Computed fields
Lookup fields
File Lookups for entries
Memory fields
Multiple report break fields
Pause fields
Record selectors
Total on screen fields
Plus many others
While using your ORDER application it will calculate the next
available customer number and assign it to the next record you
enter.
We have seen this program used by so many different industries it
is really amazing. This is not a complicated program however it
has a great deal of versatility.
Remember: Your ESC-KEY takes you back 1 step. This program
creates it's own data files just like all of our program.
If you start using this program to experiment with its potential
and then decide to go live you can very simply: Exit the program
and while in the sub-directory issue the following command from
the prompt C:> ERASE *.DAT
This will remove all of your temporary data files and the next
time you call up this program it will create new files all by
itself.
PHONES.EXE
Your Phones application is a very powerful yet simple to run
electronic telephone directory.
We have made this program versatile to the point that it will
function either on your home computer -or- will be equally useful
on your office computer.
You can send your reports (as with all of our programs) to the
screen first prior to printing. This procedure allows you to
verify the accuracy of a report prior to actually printing it.
Again, when at the SCROLLING-TABLE view remember: INS = Add a new
entry, DEL = Delete an existing entry, ENTER-KEY = Modify an
existing entry/record.
TEACHER.EXE
Our teacher application was designed to assist a teacher with
class organization and grading. Some of the fields are self
explaining while others may require an explanation.
Level = Level of instruction
Schedule = Meeting schedule
Course Code = Course identifier
Info = Confidential Information
Ident = Student identification
Layout = a large memo field containing a freeform drawing of the
room layout and the numbers of seats in the room.
Seat = Seat number
Test code = Test identifier
Date = mm/dd/yy
Grade period = a number i.e. 1, 2, 3
Wt factor = Weighting factor
TRACKING.EXE
Your TRACKING application records sales calls, customer
information, actual sales, and personal comments. Since every
sales environment is different we have tried to make this
application cover only the basics.
We would be happy to modify this program for your organization.
CLUB.EXE
Your CLUB application can be used to manage a membership list of
any organization.
It includes an address file of members (Including dues paid) and
a file of standardized letters with the address file for mass
mailing.
PAPER.EXE
Here is a useful program for the home decorator. This program
calculates the number of rolls of wall paper required to over a
room.
Paper uses a "rule of thumb" algorithm gleaned from a "How to
manual". Essentially, the computation sets the wall paper
requirement at 125% of the wall area less one roll for every pair
of doors and every double window.
The computation increases the wall area to account for waste
produced by repeated patterns.
CREDIT.EXE
Your CREDIT application keeps a record of all the credit cards
that you possess. Pertinent information such as issuing company,
credit card number, expiration date and so forth, is maintained
through a screen which allows you to ADD, REVISE, DELETE, OR
PRINT CREDIT CARD RECORDS or to merely review each credit car
record as needed.
BBALL.EXE
Your BaseBall application tracks the roster and statistics of a
Little League baseball team.
This program is pretty straight forward and doesn't really
require much explanation.
PAYMENT.EXE
The PAYMENT application computes the monthly payment required to
pay off a mortgage.
CTRL-ESC Key terminates the program.
COOKBOOK.EXE
Here is a good home program to track, display and print RECIPES.
Although there are many home program on the market, most of them
are to complex to maintain on a daily basis.
Here is one that is easy to run and have fun with.
CO.EXE
CHARGE OFF LOAN TRACING: "D-E-M-O" for one of our commercial
packages. This program is sold nation-wide to Credit Unions,
Banks and Savings & Loans Associations.
It was written originally as a special request by one of our
customers. After running the program for about 2 years they
informed us that other Credit Unions all over the country had
inquired about where they got their program.
Currently, this program is in 18 different states. It is used by
lending institutions, City & County Government agencies also
select RETAILER'S to track their charge-off's.
SLOTS.EXE
SLOTS Plays a casino-style one-armed bandit. The bank starts with
one thousand dollars; you start with what ever amount you wish to
put up against the bank. Each play costs a dollar. Your pay-off
depends upon the combination of "FRUIT" or "BARS" that appear
when the bandit's wheels stop spinning.
SHORT CUTS & HELPFUL HINTS
First, realize that most software program use "ONLY" FORMS. These
tend to be rather boring and only allow you to view one part of
your information at a time.
We have tried to create a different view utilizing a professional
developers software generator. * SEE Acknowledgements section *
along with some specialized language extension modules.
1 Our software starts from a MAIN MENU
2 Next, generally we will go to a SCROLLING TABLE.
A. This allows you to view multiple entries or parts of a form
3 The basic FORM, used for data entry.
4 Lookups ( Exploding Windows ) to minimize data entry required
5 Memory Variables Selected memory formulas.
6 Function Key F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F19, F11, F12
7 INS-KEY = Add entry at SCROLLING TABLES
8 DEL-KEY = DELETE entry at SCROLLING TABLES
9 ESC-KEY = Go back 1 step
10 ENTER-KEY = Accept / Save / Advance
11 CTRL/ESC-KEY = Exit this screen don't save
12 CTRL/ENTER-KEY = Exit this form & save information
NOTE *** Make sure you check your NUM/LOCKS-KEY if you have a
problem with data entry.
